Hello Poetry Lovers
Well, wonderful poet Trisha Broomfield recently delighted us with a pantoum on a bus ride into town. Now we alight again for the Return Journey.
Just as colourful and eventful, with dubious but intriguing company. A new character too. You’ll be as drawn in going home as you were setting out. So get your fares ready and read on…
The Return Journey

Cat’s driving us all back from town
the snake is dreaming, he’s been kissed
joined by a fox of some renown
the crocodile’s drunk gin, is pissed

the snake is dreaming, he’s been kissed
Fox carries an enormous bag
the crocodile’s drunk gin, is pissed
he’s robbed the bank, we notice swag

Fox carries an enormous bag
the only sober one, the owl
he’s robbed the bank, we notice swag
Cat gives a disapproving scowl

the only sober one, the owl
Snake’s bought another lamé suit
Cat gives a disapproving scowl
and dreams of how to spend the loot

Snake’s bought another lamé suit
joined by a fox of some renown
and dreams of how to spend the loot
Cat’s driving us all back from town.
